Assessly vs Vervoe: an honest comparison
People arriving here want a candidate to do the job rather than describe it, and they want the result to mean something to a hiring manager who was not in the room.

Algorithmic Reasoning Simulation
What each one costs to start
Assessly
From $29 a month
Or free: 20 answers a month
Published prices, monthly, from the free plan up to Business. Enterprise is the one tier we quote.
Vervoe
By quote only
The pricing page asks for a demo. Self-serve tiers were withdrawn during 2026; third-party listings still quote old figures. No free plan is offered.
Both prices as published by each company on the date the comparison was checked, in the currency they publish. Vervoe may offer other terms on request; so do we above the Business plan.
Simulations of the actual work
5 ready-made simulations put the candidate in a real situation from the role, start to finish, and you read how they got there rather than only where they landed.
A score that shows its reasoning
Each answer gets 0 to 100 with the reasoning written out. You can disagree with it, which is the point: a number you cannot inspect is a number you cannot defend.
84Score from 0 to 100, per answerBuild from a template or from nothing
Copy a simulation and edit it, or write your own from 18 question types. Both take the same editor.
Assessly and Vervoe, side by side
Both columns are read at the first paid plan of each tool, ours at Starter for $29 a month, theirs at the plan named in the header. Our column comes from the plans the product enforces, so it cannot be tidied by hand. Theirs is read from their public pages on the date below. Where only a dearer plan carries something, the cell names that plan and its price. A question mark means we could not verify it there, not that it is missing.

Where Vervoe is stronger
- Real embedded simulations: a spreadsheet, a slide deck or a support ticket queue the candidate works inside, rather than questions about one.
- Grading that learns from you. Score a few answers by hand and the model calibrates to your standard, which pays off on a role you fill repeatedly.
- Enterprise posture: ISO 27001, an independent bias audit of the AI, regional data storage, a customer pipeline with stages and talent pools.
- A library of around 300 role-based assessments plus an AI builder that drafts one from a job description.
Where Assessly is stronger
- A price on the page and a plan you can start today, including a free one. No demo call before you know what it costs.
- Reasoning on every score from the first candidate, with nothing to train. For a role you fill once, a model that needs calibration is a model that is wrong on the only hire.
- Every template readable in full before you sign up.
- Assessments written in {languages} languages, so the same simulation goes out in the language each candidate reads.
- Code that runs against test cases from the Pro plan, with the reasoning scored beside it.
So which one?
Pick Vervoe if
You hire the same role at volume, want the candidate working inside a real spreadsheet or ticket queue, and have the budget and the time for a sales-led enterprise rollout.
Pick Assessly if
You want to start this week from a published price, read the questions first, and get a scored answer with its reasoning on the first candidate rather than the fiftieth.
How a simulation runs
- 1
Choose the situation
Each simulation puts the candidate in a real moment from the role, with the context they would actually have.
- 2
Set what good looks like
Adjust the questions and the weighting before anyone sees it, or send it as written.
- 3
The candidate works it through
They can stop and come back; progress is saved as they go.
- 4
Read the reasoning, not just the result
The score points at what the answer did, so you can disagree with it on the evidence.

Worth asking of any skills-testing tool
- Does the task resemble the job, or does it test the ability to take tests?
- Can you see the reasoning behind a score, or only the score?
- How long does the candidate need, and are they told before they start?
- Can you change a scoring rule after you have seen real answers?
Where Assessly stops
- Automatic scoring starts on the Starter plan.
- Simulations are written as questions and answers, not as an interactive sandbox running a real application.
The simulations, in full
Each one is a real situation from the role. Read it before you decide.
2 real questions
Taken from Algorithmic Reasoning Simulation, so you can judge the wording rather than a description of it.
- 1.Short text
The fourth function is: function countDown(n): while n > 0: print(n) n = n - 2 return n What value does countDown(5) return at the end?
- 2.Long text
The fifth function is supposed to reverse a list in place: function reverse(list): n = length(list) for i from 0 to n - 1: temp = list[i] list[i] = list[n - 1 - i] list[n - 1 - i] = temp return list What does reverse([1, 2, 3, 4]) return? Explain why the result is wrong and write the fix.
Questions people ask us
What is in a job simulation here?
A real situation from the role, broken into questions the candidate works through in order. You read how they got to the answer, not only what they concluded.
Is it a sandbox running a real application?
No. Simulations are written as questions and answers rather than as an interactive environment. That is a deliberate limit and worth knowing before you choose.
Can I change the scoring after seeing real answers?
Yes. Weighting and questions can be edited once the first responses are in, which is usually when you learn what you actually wanted to ask.
How long does a simulation take a candidate?
The ready-made ones state their estimate on their own page, and the candidate sees it before starting. Progress is saved, so they can stop and come back.
Do I have to write the situation myself?
No, though you can. There are ready-made simulations you can send as written, and any of them can be copied and edited.
What does the score actually mean?
A figure from 0 to 100 per answer, with the reasoning written out. You can disagree with it on the evidence, which is the point of showing the reasoning.
This is our own site, so read it that way. What we say about the other tool is read from its public pages on the date shown beside the table, with the sources linked, and we name where it beats us before we name where we win. Every number about Assessly is read from the product rather than written by hand. If we got something about them wrong, write to us and we will fix it.
Try it on one opening before you decide
Take a ready-made template, send the link to three candidates and read what comes back. 20 submissions a month cost nothing and need no card.
